Weekly pick-up is provided by the city. Trash is picked up each Thursday at 7:00am or later. In weeks that have a holiday, trash is picked up on Friday.
As of March 1, 2007, there is a limit of two bags per week, and each bag may not exceed 40 pounds. Excess trash bags need excess trash bag tags in order to be collected. These may be purchased at participating Westlake Ace Hardware and Price Chopper stores.
RECYCLING COLLECTION:
Items for recycling will be picked up on the same day as trash. An unlimited number of items may be placed in the blue KC Recycles bin. Each house is entitled to one bin at no cost, but additional bins may be purchased (available at Westlake Ace Hardware or Price Chopper stores).
Items that may be recycled include: newspapers & magazines, phone books, cereal boxes, cardboard, #1 & #2 plastic bottles, #3-7 plastics containers and aluminum cans. Unacceptable materials include: glass, paper plates & cups, styrofoam, paper towels, and plastic grocery bags. Chapel Woods is located in large trash zone 7. For more information and to set an appointment, call 816-513-1313.
TRASH CANS:
At the inception of the association, home owners voted that trash and trash cans be stored in the garage except on trash day, as they are unsightly and attract animals.
HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF SITE:
Call 816-784-2080 for directions or visit www.kcmo.org. The drop-off site is open by appointment only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. |
