So, you want to be more green this year. By volunteering to participate in the KC Recyles program, you will help keep the landfills from filling up. In 2008, KC Recycles collected about 19,000 tons of material. This material is now being used to create new stuff for us to use everyday. Go to most any Westlake Ace Hardware store or Price Chopper to buy a blue bin. You must use this recycling bin to signal the driver to stop. You may place any of the following in this bin: - aluminum cans
- plastic bottles marked #1 or 2
- plastic containers marked #3-7
- cardboard
- magazines
- catalogues
- office paper
- newspapers
- phone books
Items that MUST NOT be placed in the bin: - pizza boxes
- glass
- plastic bags
- Styrofoam
- egg cartons
- any automotive fluid including oil
- paper towels
- napkins or tissues
- paper plates and cups
- waxed containers like milk or juice
- shredded paper
- gift wrap
